Teaching Strategies

Art

We believe that art is something that is meant to teach creativity, imagination, and confidence. Open art is what we believe in, and everyday children are encouraged to try something new! Whether that be making a self portrait,  painting with their hands, or even just the basics of coloring and cutting, children are given ample opportunity to express their individuality through art. Seeing their confidence skyrocket when they complete a creation makes everyone smile!

Literacy

Literacy has always been a key factor in early childhood education. Reading stories, talking with children about the day,  and narrating each activity that is done throughout the day are just some simple ways to begin early literacy with children. With our curriculum, those skills are built  by having story times, practicing writing, engaging children in literacy small groups, and much more.  With each different study brings brand new ideas to ponder and write about. We take great pride in teaching your children that reading and writing is very fun, and necessary!

Science

Children have always been curious about the world around them, because they are exploring it for the first time! Science can be brought into the classroom in many different ways. We use sensory bins, such as water and sand tables. We also use real-life objects like pinecones, rocks, leaves, etc. Children are inquisitive, and having different items that spark that thought process is what science is all about! Also, cool (and kid friendly) science projects are always accepted in our classrooms!

Language

At school, it is always highly encouraged for children to use their words to inform us of their needs. That is why language is so important! The Teaching Strategies curriculum is made up of daily discussions about what the study is. These discussions help develop language by using open ended questions (questions that can have many different answers). Children are always encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas, and by doing they build their knowledge of words and their meanings.

Mathematics

What can young children do for early math skills? There are lots of ideas! With Teaching Strategies, those ideas are brought to life. Children will learn how to count, recognize numbers, understand shapes, and so much more! Teachers help them learn this by conducting small group activities and talking about math during free play and circle times. There is math to be learned all around us, and our goal is to have children recognize that and build a great relationship with math!

Social and Emotional

Children are brand new to this world, and to be able to learn about math, science, reading, writing, etc., they have to know to deal with the strong emotions we all deal with as humans. At our center, the most important lesson we teach is that is always okay to talk about emotions. We want our children to feel safe coming to us with their thoughts and feelings, and we want to give them safe and healthy ways to work through them. Every child deserves to have their feelings heard and validated.
